Jerusalem

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
"May those who love you be secure.
May there be peace within your walls
and security within your citadels."
For the sake of my brothers and friends,
I will say, "Peace be within you."
For the sake of the house of the LORD our God,
I will seek your prosperity.
Psalm 122:6-9

devoted, watchful, thankful

"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful."
Colossians 4:2

a couple thoughts:

1) devote yourselves to prayer - I'm afraid we rarely take prayer to that level.

2) being watchful - An interesting term to use and one I have been wondering what it means as applied to prayer. A couple scriptures that seem to fit this term though are Psalm 130:6 "My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning." And Isaiah 62:6 "I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem."
